Social Media Week has been successfully touring the planet for another year running, this morning landing with a splash in Bogota, Colombia. With hundreds of attendees in the audience and thousands more live streaming from around the world, the buzz was palpable as the Founder and CEO of ZEMOGA, DJ Edgerton (@wiltonbound) took the stage to welcome guests and fire up the five day engagement extravaganza.

DJ shared his enthusiasm not only for the event but the game changing factors precipitating it, revealing how social media has revolutionized communications, and how Bogota has proven itself as the technological and communications hub of Latin America.

Next up was Toby Daniels, CEO of CrowdCentric (@tobyd) and founding father of Social Media Week. He presented “10 Principles for an Open, Connected, and Collaborative World,” citing examples from business, government, and education to substantiate that social media has not only transformed communications, but our entire culture and how we think of brands, messaging, and even ourselves.
