Digital Pharma East 2012: Bob Brooks Takes the “e” Out of eHealth

@Spitz interviews the one and only Bob Brooks of WEGO Health at the Digital Pharma East Conference in Philadelphia, October 15-18, 2012.

Bob sees his task as ultimately “taking the ‘e’ out of ‘eHealth'” by circumventing the challenges of digital to get at the heart of patient engagement. He points out that patient communication and our goals as educators fundamentally haven’t changed over the years, but the digital channel has rapidly evolved, holding so much promise yet also creating plenty of confusion. Sharing a quote that digital now makes up “15% of the budget, 70% of the work, and 90% of the frustration,” Bob acknowledges it’s tough, but helpfully offers several proven best practices, including use of real patients to ensure transparency, and keeping the conversation unbranded whenever character limits are an issue. And speaking of issues, Spitz comments on the incredible build-up of static electricity between their two bald heads, a potential source of power to get folks through the hurricane black-outs along the East Coast.
